ArenaNet has officially announced Guild Wars 3, validating intense community speculation and domain sleuthing that surfaced during Summer Game Fest.
The wait is officially over for one of PC gaming's most dedicated communities. Following weeks of atmospheric teasers on social media and some intense detective work by fans who tracked domain updates pointing straight to Amazon Web Services, ArenaNet has confirmed that Guild Wars 3 is in active development. As originally reported by Rock Paper Shotgun during their Summer Game Fest coverage, the official Steam page is already live for wishlists, though the studio is keeping a tight lid on an exact release window for now.
For a franchise that has maintained a fiercely loyal player base through more than a decade of expansions and updates, this announcement marks a major milestone. The speculation truly kicked into high gear when community sleuths and creators noticed that the guildwars3.com domain had been quietly updated to match the exact server infrastructure used by Guild Wars 2. When developers drop cryptic hints like a shifting wind and a changing world, modern gaming communities rarely miss a beat, and the collaborative online sleuthing proved spot on once again.
While we wait for the first deep dive into gameplay, engine details, and how the studio plans to handle modern live service economies, this reveal instantly shakes up the MMORPG landscape. Guild Wars 2 carved out a unique space for itself by prioritizing horizontal progression and cooperative open worlds over endless grind, and fans are eager to see how ArenaNet modernizes that philosophy for today's cross platform landscape.
