Guild Wars 2: Eternity Gets a Release Date - But Is It Soon Enough?

Guild Wars 2's *Visions of Eternity* expansion finally has a release date of October 28th, bringing new elite specializations, a mysterious island to explore, and much-needed quality-of-life improvements… but was the delay worth it?
Right, so Guild Wars 2 fans, mark your calendars (or scribble it on your monitor with a marker, I won't judge). *Visions of Eternity*, the sixth expansion for the perpetually-evolving MMO, is finally dropping on October 28th. That's the word from Game Rant, who got the official skinny.
Now, before you get too excited, remember this expansion was initially slated for August. A two-month delay? In the grand scheme of game development, that's practically a blink of an eye, but it still stings a bit, doesn't it? Especially when you're itching for fresh content. Still, ArenaNet is promising a bundle of goodies.
What's in the box, you ask? Well, the big-ticket items are the new elite specializations. Each profession is getting a shiny new set of traits, mechanics, and skills, giving you more ways to mess around with your builds. I'm personally keen to see what they've cooked up for the Elementalist – because let's be honest, more ways to conjure elemental chaos is *always* a good thing. An open beta test focused on elite specializations is scheduled for August 20 to 27th, so you will be able to test them out!
Beyond that, we're heading to Castora, a mysterious island that's been shrouded in myth and legend. Two open-world zones will be available right at launch, with two more unlocking as the main story unfolds over 2025 and 2026. So, it looks like this expansion is a marathon, not a sprint. Also, your skimmer mount is getting an upgrade for easier traversal. And, hallelujah, fashion templates! Finally, a way to save and swap your cosmetic outfits without having to painstakingly recreate them every time. It's about time, I reckon.
Raids and Strikes are also getting some love, with a streamlined interface planned for 2026. Sounds promising, and Guild Wars 2 players who own both Janthir Wilds and Visions of Eternity will also gain access to a new Homestead. The developers also released a short trailer to announce the news.
Pre-orders are live, starting at $24.99 for the Standard Edition. Not a bad price, but it still raises the question: will *Visions of Eternity* be worth the wait? We'll find out on October 28th. Until then, keep your eyes peeled for more info, and maybe start theory-crafting those new elite specializations.
