Recent community discoveries suggest a cover of The Temptations' Papa Was a Rollin' Stone by Trace Austin may serve as a main theme song for Grand Theft Auto 6, sparking new theories about the game's narrative and character backgrounds.
As the community continues to dissect every pixel of official footage and wait for the next wave of developer updates, the rumor mill is turning toward the game's audio landscape. According to a recent report by Game Rant, sleuths in the community have uncovered potential evidence pointing to one of the main theme songs for Grand Theft Auto 6. The discovery centers around a cover of the classic track Papa Was a Rollin' Stone by The Temptations, which allegedly ties directly into the upcoming open world sequel.
The trail started when Twitter user iGrandTheftAuto highlighted findings showing that artist Trace Austin claimed in his professional biography that he collaborated with Rockstar Games to adapt the track for the game. Adding weight to the rumor, Austin is the grandson of Otis Williams, who founded The Temptations and remains the last surviving original member. Alongside other rumored tracks like David Allan Coe's Need A Little Time Off For Bad Behavior, the soundtrack is shaping up to carry that signature satirical and gritty Americana vibe players expect from the franchise.
For players who treat in-game radio stations and cinematic scores as core parts of the identity of these massive virtual worlds, song choices always spark deep lore speculation. The lyrical themes of Papa Was a Rollin' Stone focus heavily on a troubled or absent father figure. With protagonist Lucia having a known background featuring a close relationship with her father, community theories are already pointing toward Jason as the character whose personal history might connect to the melancholic undertones of the song. While we wait for official word from Rockstar, leaks like this highlight how deeply engaged the player base is in hunting down every last detail before launch day.
