GTA 6 DualSense Controllers Fall Victim to Scalpers Immediately After Pre-Orders Go Live

Scalpers have already flooded eBay with marked-up listings for the new limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers, doubling the retail price even while official pre-orders remain open.
Polygon reports that the highly anticipated collaboration between Rockstar Games and Sony has hit an early roadblock as scalpers target the newly announced limited-edition GTA 6 DualSense controllers. Featuring the iconic VI logo, distinct palm tree motifs, and a striking pink, purple, and blue color palette matching the game's art direction, the accessories are already being flipped on eBay for double their $84.99 retail price. Fans rushed the PlayStation website to secure their pre-orders, and while stock is technically still available through official channels, secondary markets are already flooded with overpriced listings.
This frustrating situation highlights a persistent issue across the hardware ecosystem where collectors and everyday players are priced out of limited items. From special edition consoles to anniversary hardware drops, automated bots and opportunistic resellers routinely bypass purchase limits. Even though Sony has implemented a strict limit of one controller per account, online storefronts remain wide open to exploitation compared to the aggressive physical retail countermeasures seen in regions like Japan, where facial recognition is sometimes used to block repeat buyers.
The hardware gouging extends well beyond standard controllers, as the impending arrival of Grand Theft Auto 6 is already driving up secondary market prices for the PS5 Pro as well. For players treating gaming as their primary social space and digital collection hobby, the inability to purchase special edition gear at standard retail pricing has become an exhausting routine. As excitement for November builds, the community is once again left dealing with artificial scarcity driven entirely by profit-seeking resellers rather than genuine fan demand.
