Grounded 2 on PlayStation and Switch 2? Obsidian's Teasing Us, Mate!

Obsidian's teasing a possible PlayStation and Switch 2 release for Grounded 2, while confirming it'll spend about two years in early access as they polish the game based on community feedback – so strap in, it's gonna be a wild ride!

Right, so Obsidian's got everyone buzzing about Grounded 2, the sequel to that bonkers backyard survival game where you're shrunk down to the size of an ant. The original Grounded landed on pretty much everything *eventually*, and now everyone's wondering if lightning will strike twice. According to Eurogamer, when asked about a PlayStation and Switch 2 release, Obsidian's executive producer, Marcus Morgan, gave a cheeky grin and said, "Can't talk about that right now. But I will say that Grounded 1 is on all of those platforms so..." – followed by, you guessed it, *another* grin.

Sounds like a 'maybe' wrapped in a 'we're not saying anything' burrito, doesn't it?

Grounded 2 is heading into early access next week, July 29th, just like its predecessor. Obsidian reckons it'll need about two years in the early access oven to get the recipe just right – which, fair dinkum, is what they did with the first game. Community feedback was apparently crucial, so expect them to be tweaking and tuning things based on what players are saying.

Now, here's the thing: Grounded is an Xbox Game Studios title, so a multiplatform release wasn't a given. But Microsoft did experiment with bringing it to other platforms, and, judging by Morgan's comments, it seems those versions did pretty well. (Good on 'em, I say!)

Personally, I reckon Grounded is a perfect fit for the Switch. The first game had some performance wobbles on the original Switch, but with the Switch 2 rumoured to be packing more grunt, those issues should be a thing of the past. Plus, the whole 'exploring a giant world from a tiny perspective' thing just screams 'Nintendo'.

But what's actually *new* in Grounded 2, you ask? Well, prepare to ride giant insects (yes, you read that right – *insect mounts*!). The game world is also expanding to Brookhollow Park, which promises all sorts of biomes to explore, including ice dungeons (because why not?). And apparently, the combat and gameplay systems are getting a proper upgrade, which should give the game some serious staying power. No one wants another No Man's Sky launch, eh?

I'll have more to say about Grounded 2 when the early access embargo lifts on July 29th. But for now, keep those antennae twitching and that optimism burning bright. Obsidian might just have another multiplatform hit on their hands, and that's something worth getting excited about, isn't it?
