IGN Africa has released a new official clip for Greenland 2: Migration, the upcoming post-apocalyptic survival sequel starring Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin, set for a theatrical release on January 9, 2026.
As players increasingly look to cinematic storytelling for world-building inspiration, big-screen disaster epics continue to pull massive interest from the gaming community. IGN Africa recently shared an official clip for Greenland 2: Migration, showcasing a fresh look at the upcoming action thriller from STX Entertainment, Thunder Road Pictures, and Lionsgate. Scheduled to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, the sequel brings back familiar faces while raising the stakes for survival.
The film picks up in the brutal aftermath of the cataclysmic comet strike that drove the first movie's narrative. The Garrity family, played by returning stars Gerard Butler, Morena Baccarin, and Roman Griffin Davis, must finally abandon the safety of their Greenland bunker. They are forced to traverse a shattered, hostile planet in search of a permanent new home, setting up a cross-continental journey that leans heavily into high-tension survival themes.
Directed by Ric Roman Waugh with a script penned by Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune, the upcoming sequel expands its scope well beyond the confines of a single shelter. For fans of post-apocalyptic settings who spend their downtime exploring desolate open-world sandboxes or tactical survival titles, the scale of this planetary migration offers plenty of atmospheric world-building to appreciate before it arrives in theaters early next year.
