PC players can claim a free Steam key for Telltale's The Walking Dead Season 1 on September 9 through a Lenovo Gaming Community Key Drop event.
PC players looking to expand their Steam libraries without spending a dime will soon have a chance to claim one of the most defining narrative adventures of the last decade. Game Rant reports that the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead is heading to the Lenovo Gaming Community for a special Key Drop event on September 9 at 12 PM ET. While the promotion offers the game completely free to keep, keys are strictly limited on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning players will need to act fast when the queue opens.
Originally launched in 2012, Telltale's take on the zombie apocalypse set a new standard for choice-driven storytelling in video games. The game earned widespread critical acclaim for its emotionally heavy narrative and consequences that carried across episodes, revitalizing a dormant adventure genre and cementing itself as an all-time classic. Even fourteen years later, the harrowing journey of Lee and Clementine remains an essential playthrough for anyone who appreciates high-stakes character development in modern gaming.
This specific giveaway was originally scheduled for August but faced a brief delay due to technical difficulties. Lenovo has since updated its backend infrastructure to handle the traffic load, aiming for a smoother experience during the drop. Participants will need active accounts on Steam, Twitch, and the Legion Gaming Community, alongside a quick visit to Gleam and Gamesplanet to finalize the key redemption process when the timer hits noon.
Whether you are revisiting the emotional highs and lows or experiencing Lee and Clementine's story for the very first time, securing a free Steam key is a great excuse to dive back in. Prepare your accounts ahead of schedule, because these keys are guaranteed to vanish within minutes of the drop going live.
