Universal Pictures is giving fans a deeper look at the blockbuster sequel with the release of the Wizard's Glory featurette for Wicked: For Good. Shared originally via IGN South Africa, the behind the scenes clip focuses on Jeff Goldblum and the production crew breaking down the intricate choreography and scale required to bring the grand musical numbers involving The Wizard to life. For anyone tracking how modern cinematic spectacles are constructed, it offers a fascinating glimpse into the blend of practical sets and performance that defines this continuation of the Oz saga.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the film picks up with Elphaba, played by Cynthia Erivo, living in exile as the Wicked Witch of the West while Glinda, played by Ariana Grande, basks in the fame of the Emerald City. The narrative follows the expanding rift between the two former friends as political pressures mount under the rule of The Wizard and Madame Morrible. With the supporting cast featuring returning powerhouses like Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Bailey, the sequel leans heavily into the emotional fallout and high stakes established by its predecessor.
The massive cultural footprint of the first film, which pulled in ten Oscar nominations and a staggering $750 million worldwide following its November 2024 release, proves that musical IP holds serious weight with contemporary audiences. Wicked: For Good is available now to rent or buy digitally, as well as on Blu-Ray and DVD. Whether you are catching it from the couch or exploring its tie-ins across digital storefronts, the release marks another major cross-media event for a franchise bridging stage, screen, and digital fandom.
