Ghost of Yotei's Multiplayer: MIA at Launch, But Hold Yer Horses!

*Ghost of Yotei* might not have a multiplayer mode like *Ghost of Tsushima's* Legends at launch, but don't lose hope just yet – Sucker Punch isn't ruling it out entirely, and who knows what surprises they might have in store down the line?
Right, so everyone's been buzzing about Sucker Punch's upcoming *Ghost of Yotei*, and fair play, it looks stonking. But there's been a nagging question on everyone's minds: what about Legends, the multiplayer mode that made *Ghost of Tsushima* even more addictive than it already was? Well, according to a recent chat with creative directors Nate Fox and Jason Connell (cheers to Game Rant for digging that out!), it sounds like Legends won't be making a grand entrance alongside *Yotei* on launch day.
Now, before you chuck your controller at the wall in despair, let's not get ahead of ourselves. Fox didn't outright deny its return, did he? He just sort of…dodged the question, like a ninja evading a shuriken. Basically, they're swamped getting the main game polished to a gleaming sheen for its October release. Which, I reckon, is fair enough. A wonky single-player experience would be a far bigger letdown, wouldn't it?
Think of it this way: *Ghost of Tsushima's* Legends mode wasn't exactly there from day one either. It rocked up later and even got a swanky upgrade with the Director's Cut, introducing the Rivals mode. So, *Yotei* launching without multiplayer doesn't mean it's banished forever.
What's got me thinking is, if they *do* bring back multiplayer, what shape will it take? Will it be a straight-up Legends 2.0, or will Sucker Punch cook up something completely bonkers? I'd love to see them lean even harder into the Japanese folklore, maybe with some truly terrifying yokai to battle. And more classes? Customization options galore? Yes, please!
Sucker Punch is clearly focusing on delivering a cracking single-player experience first. *Yotei* promises a new protagonist, Atsu, a revenge-fueled storyline, and a whole host of new tricks and toys. Atsu can even bring a "Pack of Wolves" to battles. It also seems that there is a lot of effort on making the open world fun by having merchants and interesting characters that eliminate traditional busywork.
So, yeah, no Legends at launch. A bit of a bummer, I'll admit. But let's keep our fingers crossed and our katanas sharpened. Who knows what surprises Sucker Punch has up their sleeves? After all, a little patience never hurt anyone, especially when the potential reward is more ninja-slaying goodness. Just keep an eye out for those oni…they're sneaky buggers.
