If your watch list is ready for a heavy dose of post-apocalyptic tension, 20th Century Studios has dropped a fresh look at its upcoming slate. IGN South Africa recently spotlighted the official Meet the Survivors featurette for The Dog Stars, giving us a closer look at the cinematic adaptation arriving in theaters on August 28. Based on the acclaimed novel by Peter Heller and adapted by screenwriter Mark L. Smith, the film dives straight into a brutal world where isolation is the price of survival.
The story centers on Hig, a civilian pilot living a tightly managed existence alongside a hardened military survivalist named Bangley. Their isolated setup shatters when an unexpected voice comes through on a mysterious radio transmission, prompting Hig to risk everything for a chance at finding real human connection again. The featurette breaks down the central cast driving this narrative, highlighting a massive ensemble that includes Jacob Elordi, Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Allison Janney, Benedict Wong, and Guy Pearce.
Behind the camera, the project carries serious industry weight with Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss producing alongside Smith and Cliff Roberts. For anyone tracking prestige sci-fi that leans heavily into atmospheric survival and character-driven drama, this one is shaping up to be a notable end-of-summer watch.
