GameStop is extending its nationwide store hours through the end of 2026 to accommodate holiday shoppers and the busy fall release schedule.
GameStop has confirmed an expansion of its nationwide store hours, giving physical retail shoppers more time to browse as the busy holiday season approaches. Starting September 27, most strip center locations will operate from 10:00 am to 9:00 pm Monday through Thursday, stay open from 9:00 am to 10:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and run from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm on Sundays. While specific hours may vary by location, the retailer is rolling out these extended schedules to accommodate the heavy foot traffic typical of the fall and winter months.
This schedule adjustment arrives during a transitional period for traditional gaming retail. As publishers increasingly pivot toward digital distribution and alternative formats like Game-Key Cards, GameStop has leaned heavily into merchandise and a growing retro game market to stay relevant. Even major upcoming releases like Grand Theft Auto 6 are utilizing physical boxes containing download codes rather than traditional discs, altering what players find on store shelves. Despite these shifts away from physical media, the retailer remains a primary physical hub for collectors, merchandise hunters, and fans of older generations of hardware.
For players who still enjoy browsing physical storefronts or picking up hardware accessories, the extra hours provide welcome flexibility. Whether you are hunting down classic titles or securing holiday gear, checking with your local branch before heading out is still the safest bet. As detailed by GameRant, this scheduling push highlights GameStop's ongoing efforts to capture seasonal momentum while balancing the realities of a digital-first industry.
