Game Freak Announces Mobile Title Rainy Day, Sunny Girl

Game Freak has officially announced Rainy Day, Sunny Girl, an upcoming iOS and Android mobile game that combines magical girls, real-world weather data, and a Winter 2026 release window.

Game Freak is expanding its portfolio beyond creature collecting with the official announcement of Ame no Chi Hare Onna, or Rainy Day, Sunny Girl. Heading to iOS and Android devices, this new mobile title leans heavily into a vibrant anime aesthetic and magical girl themes, trading the familiar loop of the core monster franchise for a fresh creative direction led by Pokémon Pokopia director Shigeru Ohmori.

The game introduces a unique gameplay hook by tying its mechanics directly to real-world weather data. Players manage a squad of magical weather girls accompanied by companion creatures called Kumorin, using real-time meteorological conditions to boost character abilities in battles against garbage-turned-monsters called Yamikumo. Alongside combat and environmental progression, the game introduces a surprising laundry mechanic where outfits get dirty over time and rely on actual weather conditions to dry efficiently.

While GameRant reports that the title is slated for a Winter 2026 release and will be featured heavily at the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, international availability remains uncertain. This release continues Game Freak's sporadic work in the mobile space following past titles like Pocket Card Jockey and Pandoland, though fans outside of Japan will have to wait for any word on a global rollout.
