FX Adds Heavyweight Talent to Upcoming Far Cry Anthology Series

FX's upcoming Far Cry anthology TV series has expanded its cast with prestige actors like Jennifer Jason Leigh and Brendan Gleeson, joining a creative team led by Noah Hawley and Rob McElhenney.

The upcoming FX and Hulu television adaptation of Ubisoft's flagship shooter franchise is rounding out its ensemble with serious prestige talent. IGN South Africa reports that Oscar nominees Jennifer Jason Leigh and Brendan Gleeson have officially signed on to the anthology series, alongside Hamish Linklater, Sam Spruell, and Jamie Demetriou. They join a stacked previously announced lineup that includes Steve Buscemi, Lizzy Caplan, and co-showrunner Rob McElhenney.

Helmed by Noah Hawley and Rob McElhenney, the show is adopting an anthology format where each season will explore a completely standalone story, setting, and cast. This approach fits the source material well, since every mainline Far Cry game traditionally jumps to a totally new region and cast of characters, much like the anthology structure of Fargo.

While Ubisoft's shooter franchise has remained quiet since 2021's Far Cry 6, the publisher has found steady footing in other media adaptations lately, including the animated Splinter Cell series on Netflix. FX has not yet announced an official premiere date for the Far Cry series, but the heavy-hitting creative team and star-studded cast suggest this is one adaptation worth keeping on your radar as production ramps up.
