Frontier Is Expanding the Planet Series With a Brand New Management Game

Frontier Developments has confirmed it is working on a new Planet series management game that drops zoos and theme parks for a completely fresh setting, with a launch expected around fiscal year 2028.

Frontier Developments is officially expanding its simulation portfolio with a brand new entry in the Planet series, and this time, there are no rollercoasters or wildlife enclosures in sight. Head of player engagement Richard Stephenson recently shared details in a community Discord post, confirming that the studio has started work on a fresh intellectual property. While the upcoming project will step away from the themes of Planet Coaster and Planet Zoo, it will still retain the deep creativity, management systems, and meaningful simulation that fans of the studio have come to expect.

Looking at Frontier's existing lineup, the studio already covers plenty of ground with titles like Jurassic World Evolution, Elite Dangerous, F1 Manager, and Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Realms of Ruin. That leaves plenty of room for speculation about what kind of setting this new construction and management simulation will tackle. According to financial details spotted by GameWatcher in a recent earnings report, players can expect this mysterious new title to arrive around fiscal year 2028.

For management genre veterans and community builders, this timeline gives everyone plenty of time to clear out their backlogs and master existing sims. Whether the team explores a totally unexpected historical era, a new sci-fi frontier, or something entirely abstract, the promise of a fresh framework from a studio with this much genre expertise is a big deal for the strategy community. We will be keeping an eye on how Frontier builds out this new universe as development continues. Read the original report over at Rock Paper Shotgun.
