FromSoft's Got Something Cooking (And It's Not Just Duskbloods... Probably)

FromSoftware is reportedly working on a new, unannounced multiplatform game alongside the Switch 2-bound *Duskbloods*, leading to rampant speculation about whether it's *Dark Souls 4*, an *Armored Core* sequel, or something completely bonkers (but probably difficult). Whatever it is, get ready to die... a lot.

Right, so FromSoftware – you know, the folks who've gleefully tortured us with *Dark Souls* and resurrected giant robots in *Armored Core* – are apparently up to something. Now, the real kicker? This mystery game, currently codenamed "FMC", could be hitting our screens as early as next year. That's if MP1st's sources are on the level, and they reckon this thing's in an "advanced stage". See, here's where it gets interesting. The fact that it's a "multiplatform" title pretty much confirms it isn't *The Duskbloods*, which is already slated as a Switch 2 exclusive (vampires, jetpacks, dinosaurs – the usual FromSoft fare, right?).

So, what *is* FMC? Well, that's where the speculation starts bubbling like a witch's cauldron. Apparently, FromSoft likes to codename their *Souls* games and *Armored Core* with "F" prefixes. *Dark Souls 3* was "FDP", *Dark Souls Remastered* was "FHD", and *Armored Core 6* was "FNR". *Elden Ring*, being the rebel it is, went with "GR" (Great Rune, naturally).

Does FMC mean we're getting *Dark Souls 4: Electric Boogaloo* (or, y'know, a *Dark Souls 3* Remaster)? Nick "Shpeshal Nick" Baker from the XboxEra Podcast reckons a *Dark Souls 3* Remaster is on the cards. Series creator Miyazaki-san *did* say *Dark Souls 3* was the "big closure" on the series, but let's be honest, when has closure ever stopped a good remaster? (Plus, free money, right?).

*Armored Core 6* was a proper comeback for the series, selling like hotcakes (or maybe metal pancakes?) and it seems reasonable that the studio would want to build on that success. Another Armored Core title would be welcome by many (including me!).

Honestly, it could be anything. Knowing FromSoftware, they might just surprise us with a gardening simulator where the plants are secretly Eldritch horrors. Whatever it is, I'm strapping in for another dose of digital torment and glorious victories. Because if there's one thing FromSoft knows how to do, it's make a bloody good game.

Just don't expect any Web3 wizardry here, folks. FromSoft's pretty focused on making solid games, and less on chasing the blockchain bandwagon. For now, at least.
