Playground Games revealed the full map for Forza Horizon 6, confirming real-world Japanese tracks and Initial D touge routes like Mount Akina ahead of its May launch.
Playground Games just gave players a complete look at the upcoming map for Forza Horizon 6, and automotive enthusiasts are already picking apart every corner. Set in Japan, the revealed road layout confirms that developers drew heavy inspiration from legendary real-world driving spots. Keen-eyed community members quickly spotted an almost exact recreation of Mount Haruna, famously immortalized as Mount Akina in the street racing anime and manga Initial D. The map also features the punishing seven hairpin turns of the Hakone Nanamagari route, which serves as the historical birthplace of modern drifting culture.
Circuit racing fans also found plenty to celebrate in the new layout. A compact track tucked away in the southern region closely mirrors the shorter configuration of the Tsukuba Circuit, a staple of racing game culture. Meanwhile, northern sections of the map showcase a high-speed course reminiscent of classic tracks from the golden era of Japanese motorsport. These dedicated racing spaces will reportedly tie directly into new open world time trial features, allowing players to log lap times during standard free roam sessions without loading into separate events.
The timing couldn't be better for a franchise that thrives on community creation and shared driving clips. With Playground Games also teasing a dedicated area for custom player building and town creation, the platform is shaping up to be a massive sandbox for car culture. As reported by Polygon, Forza Horizon 6 is scheduled to launch on May 19 for Windows PC and Xbox Series X, with a PlayStation 5 version arriving shortly after, expanding the shared garage to an even wider cross-platform audience.
