Fortnite has launched its annual Fortnitemares event, bringing massive crossovers with Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, and Predator alongside new gameplay mechanics, spooky POIs, and the return of Horde Rush.
As reported by Polygon, October is officially here and Fortnite is wasting no time diving into its annual Fortnitemares event. Epic Games has rolled out a massive update bringing a slate of heavy-hitting crossovers to the battle royale, including arrivals from Hollow Knight, Hazbin Hotel, and Predator. Fans can also expect previously teased horror icons like Nightmare on Elm Street, Beetlejuice, and Five Nights at Freddy's to hit the item shop and map throughout the month, alongside original cosmetics like the free Jack-A-Nape monkey skin earned by completing twenty-six event quests.
Beyond the cosmetic drops, the update shakes up the core gameplay loop with new mechanics and loot mechanics. The iconic Pumpkin Launcher returns, though players now need to use Sprite Dust in the new Loot Hacks menu to secure it rather than relying on standard chest RNG. New weapons like Freddy's Nightmare offer powerful melee combos, especially when paired with stat-boosting sprites. Meanwhile, map changes introduce spooky points of interest like Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria, where taking down animatronics grants players extra shields, health, and a free revive.
For those looking for classic seasonal modes, Horde Rush is back with a progression system allowing players to level up, earn perks, and survive long enough to face the final boss in endless mode. Blitz Royale is also hosting a chaotic rotation of overpowered event items and returning favorites like the Witch Broom. Fortnitemares is live now and runs through November first, giving the community plenty of time to grind out event rewards and explore the spooky redesigns across platforms.
