Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Lobbies Face Serious Backlash Over Heavy Bot Counts

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 has launched with exciting crossovers and new gear, but players are expressing frustration over lobbies containing significantly more AI bots than real players.

Epic Games recently launched Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, bringing a heavy dose of nostalgic video game crossovers to the battle royale. Players can currently drop into maps featuring skins and gear from franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog, Tetris, and Pac-Man, alongside brand-new weapons such as the Mega Buster and tactical map elements like the Tetris Rift. Future updates are already generating heavy community buzz through hints at upcoming collaborations with Persona 5 and Five Nights at Freddy's.

However, the excitement surrounding the new content is being overshadowed by a frustrating matchmaking issue. According to data shared by community members on social media using Discord bot tracking, lobby compositions have shifted dramatically since the seasonal update. While previous seasons typically maintained real player counts between 58 and 65 per match, current matches are reportedly seeing as few as 25 real players in a 100-player lobby, with the rest filled by AI combatants.

For a social game where progression and competitive tension drive the experience, fighting predictable computer-controlled opponents for the majority of a match drains the fun out of the loop. Many players are pointing out that this heavy reliance on artificial inflation does little to help newcomers genuinely improve their skills. As the community continues to work through the new battle pass and hunt down rare sprites, the pressure is mounting on Epic Games to address these lobby balancing concerns before the season loses its momentum.
