Polygon reports that the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Battle Pass features a relatively light lineup of crossover skins, but caps off the progression grind with a Level 100 Sonic the Hedgehog unlock.
Epic Games is ramping up the hype for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, with a retro gaming theme that has the community talking. According to a recent reveal highlighted by Polygon, the upcoming Battle Pass features eight total skins, including original designs alongside a major headline appearance from Sonic the Hedgehog. While players might expect a massive crossover lineup given the season's nostalgic framing, the actual Battle Pass keeps guest characters relatively sparse.
For dedicated grinders, unlocking the blue blur will require serious commitment. Based on the character selection screen revealed in an 8-bit trailer by animation studio 64 Bits, Sonic is positioned as the final tier reward, meaning players will likely need to hit Level 100 to add him to their locker. The pass also includes original outfits like Bastian, Grace Crowne, and Geno. Meanwhile, sharp-eyed fans have pointed out that some original skins bear a strong aesthetic resemblance to iconic Nintendo franchises, sparking renewed speculation about a long-awaited official collaboration.
Fueling those crossover rumors, Nintendo of America recently shared a teaser featuring a Lobby Hack, which is an upcoming mechanic allowing players to input codes for match advantages. While community excitement is high, it remains to be seen whether Nintendo characters will actually cross over or if the teasers are simply a nod to retro gaming history. Beyond the cosmetic lineup, Override is bringing fresh map locations, new collectible Sprites, and gameplay tweaks that will keep the island feeling active for cross-platform players on console, PC, and mobile.
