Epic Games has officially launched Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 3, titled Runners, introducing some of the most substantial mid-chapter overhauls in the game's history. According to a detailed breakdown by Johnny Yu over at Polygon, the update brings an entirely new map called the Shattered Coast alongside a restructured loot pool. Notable new points of interest range from Lifty Lodge and Latte Landing to the Battlewoods and Calamari Canyon, giving players fresh terrain to explore across console, PC, and mobile platforms.
The seasonal meta is also seeing a major shift with the introduction of extraction shooter mechanics. Sprites are returning from Chapter 6 Season 1, but this time players must secure and transport them to designated extraction sites to carry over benefits into future matches. Alongside these gameplay adjustments, five new weapons have entered the loot pool, including the Extending Focus Shotgun, the Surgical Burst Rifle, the cube-firing Chaos Exploder Rifle, John Wick's personal sidearm, and the upcoming Bank Shot Pistol with ricocheting bullets.
Competitive players also have a fresh grind ahead with updated Ranked rewards and the introduction of the Unreal rank, which requires a skill rating of at least 2,500 and a top 500 spot on the leaderboard. Other notable additions include a rare chance for the classic BattleBus to return mid-match, offering a dramatic alternative win condition.
