Former Nintendo Chief Reggie Fils-Aimé Wonders Where Xbox's Switch 2 Lineup Is

Former Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aimé expresses surprise over the lack of major Xbox game releases on the new Switch 2, pointing to shifting industry dynamics and Xbox's growing multi-platform publishing strategy.
Industry veteran and former Nintendo of America head Reggie Fils-Aimé recently shared his thoughts on the current hardware landscape, noting he is genuinely surprised by Xbox's slow software rollout on the newly released Switch 2. Speaking in an interview with The Game Business, Fils-Aimé pointed out that bringing more core Xbox titles over to Nintendo hardware feels like an obvious move, especially given the timing leading into the holiday season. While Microsoft has confirmed some upcoming support, including Indiana Jones and the Great Circle arriving next year, the broader software pipeline remains surprisingly quiet.
Fils-Aimé also highlighted a wider industry shift, arguing that the traditional console wars are largely over as companies carve out distinct identities. With PlayStation focusing heavily on premium single player exclusives, Nintendo leading the hybrid space, and Xbox evolving into a massive multi platform publisher, the old rules of direct hardware competition no longer apply. In fact, Xbox now relies on getting its games onto competing platforms to maximize player reach and revenue, making the absence of a heavier initial Switch 2 lineup even more noticeable.
Of course, platform boundaries are blurring across the board as publishers chase players wherever they game, whether on PC, cloud, mobile, or competing consoles. Microsoft has already started bringing historical exclusives like Pentiment and Grounded to Nintendo platforms, alongside moves to bring major franchises like Halo to PlayStation. Even if the old corporate rivalry has faded into a cooperative publishing ecosystem, the battle for player attention and wallet share on modern budgets remains as fierce as ever.
