For Honor is Dropping Linux and Steam Deck Support Next Week

Ubisoft is dropping Linux and Steam Deck support for For Honor on September 10 due to anti-cheat limitations, though the studio left the door open for a future return.
As reported by GameRant, Ubisoft is officially ending support for For Honor on Linux and SteamOS starting September 10. The studio cited security concerns as the primary driver for the decision, noting that it cannot meaningfully deploy anti-cheat protection on the platform. Because of this restriction, the nearly decade-old multiplayer fighter will also become unplayable on the Steam Deck.
While losing portable access is a frustrating blow for handheld users, Ubisoft has left the door open for a potential return. The developer stated it will continue investigating ways to improve its anti-cheat systems with the possibility of reopening support for the platform in the future. For now, the cutoff arrives swiftly, meaning players relying on Linux rigs or Valve's handheld need to prepare for the sudden library loss.
Even after nearly ten years on the market, For Honor still commands a dedicated community, often pulling in thousands of concurrent players on Steam. The remaining player base on Windows, PlayStation, and Xbox will not be impacted by the change, and Ubisoft has given no indication that broader support for the game is winding down elsewhere.
