The first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day reveals a packed roster of villains, surprise MCU returns, and the ongoing emotional fallout of No Way Home ahead of its July 31 theatrical release.
Sony and Marvel have officially dropped the first trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, giving fans a clear look at the next chapter for Tom Holland's web-slinger. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, the upcoming film leans hard into fan service by packing the runtime with a cavalcade of comic book characters. Viewers get a heavy dose of deep cuts and heavy hitters alike, including the return of Michael Mando as Scorpion, the live-action introduction of Tombstone played by Marvin Jones III, and appearances from the Hand. The trailer also confirms the MCU returns of Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk and Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, alongside a surprising adaptation of the classic Man-Spider storyline.
Beneath the explosive action and villain cameos, the narrative is still dealing with the heavy emotional toll left behind by Spider-Man: No Way Home. Peter Parker remains entirely isolated after Doctor Strange's memory-wiping spell, leaving former friends like Ned and MJ with zero recollection of who he is. A narrated confessional letter drives the emotional core of the footage, reminding audiences that Peter's life rarely comes with a clean, happy resolution. Meanwhile, the trailer leaves one major question unanswered regarding Stranger Things star Sadie Sink, teasing only brief glimpses of mysterious abilities that have the community theorizing wildly across social media.
With a script penned by franchise veterans Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, Brand New Day looks ready to dominate summer box offices when it hits movie theaters on July 31. As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to navigate post-multiverse saga storytelling, this installment is shaping up to be a massive cultural touchstone for cross-platform fans and streaming creators alike.
