Firebreak Admits It's a Bit of a Mess: Remedy Promises a Fix is Brewing

Remedy acknowledges the rocky launch of *FBC: Firebreak* and promises a major update in September to address onboarding issues, improve gunplay, and add more variety to missions, hopefully turning the tide for the co-op shooter. It is still to be seen if that tide is changed, but the changes sound promising.

Right, so the folks over at Remedy (you know, the *Control* and *Alan Wake* wizards) have finally acknowledged that their co-op Control spinoff, *FBC: Firebreak*, might be a tad… confusing for newcomers. Eurogamer reported that after about a month of the game being live, they're rolling out a plan to address the initial player frustrations.

Apparently, a fair few players are bouncing off the game within the first hour, feeling utterly lost. And fair dinkum, who can blame them? Remedy themselves admitted that players feel "ineffective and confused as to what to do." Seems like the onboarding process needs a serious magical overhaul, and that's exactly what they're planning. They're promising a revamped tutorial to actually, you know, explain what's going on.

But it's not just about holding your hand through the basics. They're also tinkering with the gunplay, aiming to give players more control over how their weapons evolve. Now, they're not going full *Borderlands* with a billion different guns (thankfully, some of us are still recovering from that), but they *are* adding three new heavy weapons to spice things up. Think of it as adding a few more potent spells to your arsenal.

And get this – they're shaking up the Job system, too. No more predictable missions! Remedy wants to throw in some randomisation, like shifting around key items and ammo stations. It's all about keeping you on your toes, making each run feel like a proper crisis response situation, rather than a mundane Monday morning. As Eurogamer put it, this will provide "more ways to play" as well as a "more surprising and exciting way of getting there".

The big update in September sounds promising. Apparently, it involves hunting down rogue strains of mould with something called "The Sushi Train." I'm not entirely sure what that means, but frankly, I'm intrigued. It's like they’re channeling a bit of that classic Remedy weirdness – the good kind.

Remedy also mentioned they need to see how these changes land before they can lock in their plans for future updates, which means what comes next is a little nebulous. Which is fair enough, as they will be watching player feedback.

So, is *Firebreak* about to become a must-play? Hard to say. But at least Remedy is listening and making some bold moves to fix the early stumbles. Sounds like it might be time to dust off my Bureau-issued trench coat and dive back in. (Again, big thanks to Eurogamer for keeping us up-to-date on all this!).
