Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Will Make Its Platinum Trophy Much More Achievable

Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will feature a much more accessible Platinum trophy than Rebirth, aiming for a 20 percent completion rate.

Hunting for digital bragging rights is about to get a lot more forgiving in the final chapter of Square Enix's massive RPG trilogy. According to director Naoki Hamaguchi in an interview with Anime News Network, the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will feature a Platinum trophy that is significantly easier to unlock than its predecessor. While only about 2.6 percent of players managed to complete the grueling requirements in Rebirth, the team is aiming for a much friendlier completion rate of 20 percent or higher for the next installment.

Hamaguchi admitted that the development team deliberately designed Rebirth to be an extreme challenge that pushed players to experience and master every corner of the open world. However, the sheer scale of the challenge caught the studio off guard. Battle director Teruki Endo and the rest of the team felt genuine regret after seeing how many completionists hit a wall against the game's toughest combat trials. For Revelation, the focus is shifting away from punishing difficulty and moving toward making the core combat enjoyable for a wider audience of players.

This adjustment comes as Square Enix prepares to launch Revelation on April 8, 2027, across a wide lineup of hardware including PC, PS5, Xbox Series, and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. For modern players juggling massive backlog libraries and battle passes across multiple platforms, respecting player time is a welcome design shift. Earning a Platinum trophy should feel like a satisfying reward for dedication rather than an exhausting part-time job.

Eurogamer originally broke the story, detailing how the development team listened closely to community feedback regarding trophy metrics and player burnout.
