Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches on April 8, 2027, and will feature a PS5 Pro exclusive Versatility Mode that uses PSSR upscaling to maintain 4K resolution at 60 frames per second.
Square Enix is making a strong case for Sony hardware ahead of the final chapter in its decade-long trilogy. Final Fantasy 7 Revelation is scheduled to launch across current-gen platforms on April 8, 2027, but the PlayStation 5 Pro is getting a dedicated bonus. Game Rant recently reported that the high-end console will feature a unique Versatility Mode designed specifically to run the massive open-world adventure at a steady 60 frames per second in 4K resolution.
According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi, this exclusive mode relies on PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution upscaling to bridge the gap between high fidelity and smooth performance. Base PS5 systems and likely other consoles will still offer standard options including a 4K 30 frames per second Graphics Mode alongside sharp and soft 60 frames per second performance presets. However, the advanced upscaling integration positions the upgraded Sony hardware as the definitive platform for players diving into the sprawling return of Wutai and Mideel.
Players planning to pick up the digital or physical release should also start clearing hard drive space well in advance. Hamaguchi confirmed that the ambitious finale will demand a staggering 200GB installation. As hardware capabilities continue to dictate how modern RPGs perform, this exclusive feature gives high-end console owners a clear technical advantage when the epic saga concludes next year.
