Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy 7 Revelation launches on April 8, 2027, bringing back favorite features like the Highwind airship, Queen's Blood, and playable characters Cid and Vincent.
Square Enix used the final moments of the recent State of Play broadcast to lock down a firm release date for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. The massive RPG arrives on current generation platforms on April 8, 2027, bringing the final chapter of the current trilogy into clear view. Alongside the digital release, Square Enix confirmed that physical editions will be available on day one, giving collectors a tangible option despite the industry's broader digital shift. Pre-orders are open now starting at $69.99 for the standard version, alongside limited Deluxe and Collector editions for dedicated fans.
Players stepping into Revelation can expect a massive scope, complete with the return of fan-favorite mechanics and minigames from Rebirth. Chocobo riding, the Queen's Blood card game, and cooperative Synergy Moves all make a comeback. The narrative focuses heavily on planetary threats like the oncoming Meteor, Sephiroth, and the colossal Weapons, including the iconic Ruby and Emerald encounters. To traverse the globe, Cloud and the main cast take to the skies aboard the Highwind airship, opening up fast travel across the world map.
The roster also expands with the official arrival of Cid Highwind and Vincent Valentine as fully playable party members, alongside returning faces from the broader compilation like Cissnei. Square Enix notes that character backstories expand organically based on who leads the party during specific missions. Given the sheer scale of the adventure, players should prepare their hardware accordingly, as the title demands a hefty 130GB of storage space. This April launch anchors a busy stretch for the franchise, following closely behind other major crossover events and releases in the wider Final Fantasy ecosystem.
