Final Fantasy 7 Revelation Gears Up for a Massive File Size and a Single Disc Release

Final Fantasy 7 Revelation will require an estimated 200GB of storage space and ship on a single disc, forcing players on all platforms to handle substantial downloads.
Square Enix is preparing players for a serious storage management challenge ahead of the April 8 launch of Final Fantasy 7 Revelation. According to game director Naoki Hamaguchi in a recent interview with VGC, the climactic open-world JRPG finale is tracking toward an install size of approximately 200GB. This makes it by far the largest entry in the Remake trilogy, easily eclipsing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth at 159GB and Remake Intergrade at 94GB as Cloud and company finally explore iconic locations like Mideel and Wutai.
Managing that colossal digital footprint comes with a logistical catch for physical collectors. Square Enix has confirmed that Revelation will ship on a single game disc for both PS5 and Xbox Series X to avoid prohibitive manufacturing costs and arbitrary limitations on the game's scope. Because a standard Xbox disc caps out at 50GB and a PS5 disc holds 100GB, players on all platforms will need to download a hefty chunk of data regardless of whether they buy physical or digital.
Beyond the base game, Hamaguchi also outlined plans for post-launch DLC expansions focused on Sephiroth and Vincent, comparing their scope directly to the Yuffie-centric Intermission chapter from the first game. With modern AAA install sizes continuing to test the limits of our SSDs and cloud storage solutions, players might want to start clearing out their rigs well before April rolls around.
