Final Fantasy 13 Hero Lightning Returns in Upcoming Crossover RPG

Final Fantasy 13's Lightning is returning in the upcoming crossover RPG Final Fantasy Resonance on October 22, joining a massive multi-era roster.

Final Fantasy 13 protagonist Lightning is officially making her return on October 22 in Final Fantasy Resonance. According to reporting by GameRant, the upcoming HD-2D RPG features a massive crossover roster that brings together iconic characters from across the entire franchise history, from early entries up to Final Fantasy 16.

Developed by Square Enix and Lancarse, the game follows original protagonists Rain, Lasswell, and Fina as they defend the Kingdom of Grandshelt. Rather than acting as a standard remake or direct sequel, Resonance utilizes a unique Vision system to weave classic heroes like Cloud, Tidus, Squall, and Lightning into a brand new turn-based adventure complete with signature summons like her Eidolon Odin.

Players eager to test out the mechanics and see how this ambitious multi-era crossover handles can dive into a free demo available now across PC, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox Series X. The demo covers the opening chapter and offers roughly five hours of gameplay, with all progress carrying over to the full launch later this month.
