Peacock has greenlit a Fast and Furious television series led by Vin Diesel, slated to premiere alongside the franchise's final film in 2028 as part of a four-show universe expansion.
The high octane film franchise is making the jump to television. IGN South Africa reports that Peacock has officially greenlit a new Fast and Furious series with Vin Diesel serving as executive producer. Set to premiere in 2028 alongside the final movie in the main saga, the show is part of a much larger expansion that includes four distinct television projects managed by veteran writers from shows like Sons of Anarchy and House of the Dragon.
Vin Diesel first teased the television expansion at an NBCUniversal event, pointing to sustained fan demand and the enduring appeal of the franchise's legacy characters as the primary catalysts. The final film, titled Fast Forever, is scheduled to hit theaters in March 2028 and will mark the eleventh main entry in the series. Diesel noted that the upcoming movie will return the franchise to its Los Angeles street racing roots while also aiming to reunite Dominic Toretto with Brian O'Conner.
Bringing back the character originally played by the late Paul Walker has already sparked major community discussions, especially after Walker's brother suggested that artificial intelligence could be utilized for the digital resurrection. While Hollywood continues to grapple with the ethics and technical realities of digital likenesses, the massive transmedia push proves that studios view the franchise as a permanent fixture across screens of all sizes, from cinema to streaming devices.
