Fallout 76 and Season 2: Are We About to Get Vault-Tec'd Again?
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Bethesda's teasing Fallout 76 content to coincide with the Fallout TV show's second season, but don't expect anything too lore-breaking – think thematic nods rather than full-on character crossovers. Looks like it'll be fun, but i'll be looking at it with a healthy amount of caution.
Right, so Bethesda's hinting at a Fallout 76 crossover with the upcoming second season of the Fallout TV show. According to Game Rant, Jon Rush, Fallout 76's Creative Director, mentioned they're always chatting with the TV show production team about potential tie-ins. Sounds promising, doesn't it?
But before we get too excited about the possibility of, say, mutated brahmin roaming Appalachia with a craving for movie tickets, let’s manage expectations a bit. Remember the Vault 33 Survival Kit they dropped when the first season hit Amazon Prime? That was cool, with Lucy's Vault 33 Backpack and a bunch of handy consumables. Expect something similar, rather than a full-blown questline featuring the show's characters.
See, there's a slight wrinkle in the space-time continuum (or, y'know, the Fallout timeline). The TV series takes place in 2296, while Fallout 76 is set way back in 2102. That's nearly two centuries of difference, making direct crossovers a bit tricky. Though, maybe they'll find a way to send some time-traveling ghouls our way. Stranger things have happened in the wasteland, eh?
Rush reckons thematic crossovers and harmless little references are more likely. Which is fair enough. No one wants to break the lore just for the sake of a cheap gimmick (well, *most* of us don't). The Vault 33 pack was cool; and it fits the bill perfectly. Little nods to the show without turning Fallout 76 into a bad episode of Doctor Who.
Now, Amazon’s aiming for a December 2025 release for Fallout Season 2. That means we'll probably see this crossover content dropping somewhere around Fallout 76 Season 22 or, more likely, Season 23. Season 22 is apparently called 'Appalachian Modern Living'. Make of that what you will! Maybe we’ll finally get those pre-war toilets we've all been dreaming of. No word on Season 23's theme just yet, but I'm personally hoping for 'Giant Robot Uprising'. You never know!
So, keep your eyes peeled, vault dwellers. Bethesda's got something up their sleeves, and while it probably won't involve fighting Walton Goggins' Ghoul, it should still be a fun little treat to keep us scavenging through the wasteland. Whether this is a good or bad thing is yet to be determined, but either way you can bet that i'll be checking it out.
