Independent developers Robin van der Horst and Jelle Pahlplatz have officially pulled back the curtain on their upcoming project, revealing the announcement trailer for The Great Exhibition. Judging by the initial footage, the game leans heavily into atmospheric exploration and action adventure mechanics, inviting players to dive into historical mysteries with a modern twist. While release details are still under wraps, the early visual style suggests a strong emphasis on environment and storytelling.
For a community that constantly looks for rich single player experiences between major live service updates, titles like this offer a welcome change of pace. Independent releases have consistently pushed boundaries in narrative design, and this project looks to continue that trend by focusing on pure exploration rather than endless grind loops or heavy monetization.
As we wait for more gameplay deep dives and release windows, keep an eye on how these indie developers shape the community conversation. You can check out the official announcement trailer over at IGN South Africa for your first look at the game in action.
