Everwind Brings Airships and Archipelago Exploration to Steam Early Access

Enjoy Studio has launched Everwind into Steam Early Access, combining Minecraft-style voxel crafting with Wind Waker-inspired ocean exploration and customizable airships.

The sandbox survival genre is getting another heavy hitter as Enjoy Studio launches Everwind into Steam Early Access. Following hot on the heels of Hytale and drawing clear aesthetic inspiration from Minecraft, the game immediately distinguishes itself by trading traditional landlocked maps for an expansive procedural ocean. Players navigate a world of scattered islands and floating landmasses heavily reminiscent of Wind Waker, all built from destructible voxel blocks that encourage the usual gathering and crafting loops modern survival fans know by heart.

What sets Everwind apart from the crowded survival pack is its heavy focus on aerial navigation. Once players move past the standard routine of punching trees, farming materials, and feeding crafting machines, the core goal becomes salvaging, building, and captaining custom airships. Combat also receives a slight mechanical bump over genre conventions by introducing stamina meters, directional blocking, and parrying, moving the gameplay slightly closer to an action RPG framework.

Like many early access survival titles, the onboarding experience can be a bit punishing. As Matt Wales detailed in his recent report for Eurogamer, early resource loops can occasionally trap players in frustrating setbacks if critical scrap items go missing. Even with those rough edges, the underlying progression and maritime exploration offer a solid foundation. For players who love building communities, sharing survival worlds, and watching a game evolve through early access patches, Everwind is definitely one to keep on the radar.
