Fenris Creations has revealed Theaters of War, a trilogy of expansions for EVE Online that introduces a safe starting region called Exordium, structured military campaigns, and deep integration with the shooter EVE Vanguard.
Space is getting a major shakeup as developer Fenris Creations maps out a massive trilogy of expansions for EVE Online. Titled Theaters of War, this upcoming series of updates shifts focus back to the inner spheres and the onboarding process for new players. According to an exclusive preview from IGN South Africa, the studio aims to breathe new life into empire space while tightening the connection between the enduring spaceship MMO and its upcoming first-person shooter companion, EVE Vanguard.
The trilogy kicks off with Cradle of War on June 9, introducing a dedicated new region called Exordium. Designed to give fresh capsuleers a safe place to learn the ropes, Exordium features 53 star systems with PvP completely disabled by default. While this safe zone might raise eyebrows among veterans used to the relentless danger of Nullsec, Fenris has balanced the economy with lower rewards and high taxes to prevent veteran groups from camping the area indefinitely. Crucially, this hub solves a long-standing issue by gathering new players in one place instead of scattering them across the galaxy, making it much easier for player corporations to recruit fresh blood. Structured military campaigns will also add months-long PvP clashes with lasting consequences for the wider universe.
Looking further ahead, subsequent expansions in the trilogy will focus on deepening the integration between space and planetary combat. Fenris plans to run EVE Online and EVE Vanguard in parallel with a 24/7 connection by November of this year, allowing ground-level boots to directly impact orbital conflicts. For a community that treats the virtual universe as a living social and economic ecosystem, these updates promise to bridge the gap between titanic fleet battles and personal-scale warfare, offering plenty of reasons for both veterans and newcomers to log in.
