Embark Studios Partners with Chernin Entertainment for Arc Raiders and The Finals Adaptations

Embark Studios is partnering with Chernin Entertainment to adapt Arc Raiders and The Finals into film and television projects.

Embark Studios is taking its shooter portfolio to Hollywood. According to a recent report by Variety, the developer is teaming up with Chernin Entertainment to bring both Arc Raiders and The Finals to film and television. Chernin secured the rights following its recent success with the Backrooms horror adaptation, beating out several competing production companies in the process. Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund noted that the partnership is a natural step toward building deeply integrated transmedia experiences that keep the core creativity of both worlds intact.

While specific details on writers, directors, and casting are still under wraps, the timing aligns with a massive period of growth for the studio. Arc Raiders has pulled in over 16 million sales since its launch, and Embark is keeping momentum high with a fresh free trial running from October 8 to 12 alongside the Frozen Trails update and an upcoming PvE test. The Finals is also enjoying sustained popularity, making both titles prime candidates for expansion.

Video game adaptations are certainly having a prolonged moment in the spotlight, with nearly every major publisher staking a claim in film and television. Yet the atmospheric, high stakes world of Arc Raiders feels uniquely suited for the screen, especially given the imposing mechanical threats that define its universe. As transmedia storytelling becomes a standard pillar for major live service games, these projects will need to capture the exact social and gameplay dynamics that keep players logging in every day.
