Elf on the Shelf Game? Blimey, Christmas is Coming Early (Again!)

A new *Elf on the Shelf* game is coming in October 2025, aiming for family-friendly platforming fun, but the timing of the announcement is, let's say, interesting. Early Christmas present planning, anyone?

Right, so Outright Games and Casual Brothers reckon it's the perfect time to drop a Christmas game announcement. In July. I mean, fair dinkum, aren't we all still trying to figure out where we put the summer sunscreen? Anyway, they've unveiled *The Elf on the Shelf: Christmas Heroes*, and it's launching on October 17, 2025, across PS4, PS5, Switch, and Xbox thingamajigs.

According to *Game Rant* (cheers to them for spotting this!), it's based on that Lumistella Company's *The Elf on the Shelf* thing – you know, the one where the little blighter spies on kids and reports back to Santa. Bit creepy if you ask me, but each to their own, eh? So, get this, you get to be a Scout Elf (the shelf-sitting menace!), customize it to your heart's content with outfits and whatnot, and then...platform your way to Christmas cheer. Sounds like a right laugh, doesn't it? They've chucked in some minigames too, like mazes and a memory card challenge. I'm picturing a kind of *Super Mario Odyssey* meets Santa's grotto.

Outright Games is doing the development, and they've got form in this family-friendly caper. They've done the *Barbie Project Friendship* and *Spongebob Squarepants: The Patrick Star Game* so they do know what they're doing.

The trailer is quite cheeky, showing an Elf enjoying a sunny holiday before getting the call to return to duty which adds to the games charm. I can see *The Elf on the Shelf: Christmas Heroes* might be a shout for a Christmas gift, especially for younger gamers who want some family-friendly fun.

Still, releasing a Christmas game in October? Sounds like someone's keen to get ahead of the holiday shopping rush. Maybe a little too keen? I reckon they're banking on parents desperately searching for something – *anything* – to keep the little ones entertained in the run-up to the big day. And who can blame them, eh? I remember one year trying to entertain my sister. Let's just say by Boxing day, the phrase 'Never again!' was screamed, loudly.

Is it going to be a groundbreaking, genre-defining masterpiece? Probably not. But is it going to give kids (and maybe a few adults who are still secretly kids at heart) a bit of Christmas-themed platforming fun? It just might.
