Elden Ring's New Duos Mode Delayed Because Apparently, the Real World Also Has Boss Fights (Tsunami Edition)

Elden Ring's Duos mode update got delayed, not by a glitch, but by a literal tsunami warning following a massive earthquake – because even the Lands Between can't compete with real-world natural disasters. Stay safe out there, Tarnished, because no amount of runes can save you from a rogue wave!

Right, so you know that feeling when you're *finally* about to summon your mate to take on a particularly nasty boss in Elden Ring, and then the universe throws a meteor at your internet router? Well, FromSoftware's facing something similar, but on a slightly larger scale. According to *Rock Paper Shotgun*, the highly anticipated patch 1.02 for Elden Ring Nightreign, bringing with it the glorious Duos Expedition mode we've all been clamoring for, has been pushed back. Not by a bug, not by a rogue line of code, but by a blooming *tsunami warning*. Fair dinkum!

Apparently, a massive earthquake off the coast of Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula has triggered tsunami warnings and evacuation orders across a whole swathe of the Pacific, including Japan. And being the responsible Tarnished they are, FromSoftware has decided to prioritize the safety of their team and the wider community over sticking to the original release schedule. Can't really argue with that, can you? I mean, trying to debug code while potentially facing a wall of water doesn't sound like a recipe for success.

The delay means patch 1.02, originally slated for today, July 30th, is now expected to drop tomorrow, July 31st (after 9AM BST / 4AM ET / 1AM PDT/ 10AM CEST, to be precise, so set your summoning signs accordingly). This also means the start of the second cycle of Everdark Sovereigns (those souped-up bosses they've been doling out weekly) is also getting bumped. But hey, a day or two is a small price to pay for, y'know, not getting washed away.

Besides the Duos mode, which lets you team up with a fellow Tarnished to tackle tougher challenges, patch 1.02 is also packing in the usual bag of goodies: UI tweaks, better relic filtering, and all the other little things that make the Lands Between just a bit more livable (or, at least, survivable).

Of course, my first thought was, "Bloody hell, can you imagine if this happened *in* the game?" Elden Ring already has earthquakes, meteor showers, and dragons aplenty – a proper, honest-to-goodness tsunami would just be the icing on the FromSoft cake of apocalyptic misery. Think of the new environmental hazards! The flooded dungeons! The *crab people*! (Okay, maybe I'm getting carried away.)

Seriously though, everyone stay safe out there. A game update is never worth risking life and limb. And kudos to FromSoftware for making the right call. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go practice my dodging skills… just in case.
