Elden Ring Version 1.17 Arrives Alongside the Tarnished Pack DLC

Elden Ring update 1.17 is live across platforms, laying the groundwork for the Tarnished Pack DLC while delivering extensive weapon balances, parry buffs, and crucial bug fixes.

FromSoftware is keeping the Lands Between active with the release of Elden Ring update version 1.17, which sets the stage for the newly launched Tarnished Pack DLC. Available now across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, the paid expansion introduces the Idus Knight and Heavy Knight starting classes, fresh weapon options, custom Spectral Steed attires for Torrent, and new NPC invasion events. Alongside the paid content, the update brings a substantial patch that applies balancing tweaks across weapons, shields, and magic.

Weapon balancing forms a major focus of the latest patch, addressing community feedback on specific gear pieces. Throwing weapons like the Smithscript Axe and Spear receive reduced stamina costs alongside increased attack power, while various perfume bottles enjoy damage buffs. Parry performance sees a welcome overall improvement, and Storm Wall now activates without consuming any focus points. PvP-specific adjustments also dial back certain incantations to keep multiplayer encounters balanced following the update.

Bug fixes round out the patch notes, smoothing out technical frustrations for players on all platforms. Great Katana users can now execute jumping attacks without the risk of an unintended parry, and critical hits against large enemies deal the correct amount of damage. PC players also benefit from targeted fixes that restore mouse camera control during NPC dialogue and ensure keyboard and mouse settings properly revert to defaults when requested.
