Elden Ring Reforged 2.0 Adds Full Custom Server Multiplayer to the Massive Overhaul Mod

The massive Elden Ring Reforged mod has released its 2.0 update, introducing custom servers that support full co-op, invasions, and a new duelling hub.

Modding communities continue to prove they are the lifeblood of long-tail PC gaming, and few projects illustrate this better than Elden Ring Reforged. Originally launched as a comprehensive overhaul that introduced everything from Sekiro-style deflections to new spells, bosses, and dedicated difficulty options, the mod has just received its massive 2.0 update. The standout addition is a completely custom server infrastructure that brings full FromSoftware-style online multiplayer to the modified experience, complete with co-op, summon signs, ground messages, and invasions.

Historically, running heavy overhauls meant sacrificing the seamless online integration that defines modern Soulsborne titles. The Reforged development team bypassed this roadblock by building their own custom matchmaking environment. To keep gameplay balanced and engaging, invasions are intentionally restricted to dungeon areas rather than the open overworld. This design choice encourages players to use tight corridors, environmental hazards, and AI enemies to their advantage. Participants also earn special reward coins that can be traded for loot, while the hub area has been expanded with The Gilded Court to serve as a dedicated duelling zone for competitive players.

Beyond the multiplayer integration, the 2.0 update packs enough official-scale content to rival a paid expansion. Players can explore the Serpentine Depths, a brand-new dungeon exploring the origins of Praetor Rykard, alongside a fresh roster of weapons, spirit ashes, and a new sliding evasion mechanic. As FromSoftware continues expanding the franchise with upcoming projects like Nightreign and platform ports, the dedication of the modding scene shows that player-driven innovation remains unmatched. You can download Elden Ring Reforged for free right now over on Nexus Mods, as reported by Eurogamer.
