Elden Ring: Nightreign's Greatest Hits (And Misses?) Return for Encore Beatdowns!

FromSoftware's bringing back the Everdark Sovereign bosses to Elden Ring: Nightreign for a limited time, giving players another shot at glory (or more likely, death). While some veterans might be unimpressed, new content is on the way, so buckle up!

Alright, Tarnished, sharpen your swords and down those Flasks of Crimson Tears, because FromSoftware's throwing a bit of a retro party in Elden Ring: Nightreign. IGN South Africa reports that those souped-up Everdark Sovereign bosses we've been (lovingly?) cursing at are making a comeback. Think of it like a 'greatest hits' tour... but instead of screaming fans, you get teeth and claws.

Specifically, we're talking about the Gaping Jaw, Darkdrift Knight, and Sentient Pest – the original trio of baddies to get the Everdark treatment. From July 10th to July 31st, these monstrously enhanced Nightlords will be rotating in pairs, giving players another chance to test their mettle (and patience). Don't worry, you won't be fighting them at the same time (that would be *bloody* unfair, even for Elden Ring), but if you missed them the first time around, this is your shot at redemption... or further humiliation, depending on your skill level.

The schedule, courtesy of FromSoftware, looks like this:

* **July 10 - 17:** Gaping Jaw, Darkdrift Knight * **July 17 - 24:** Sentient Pest, Darkdrift Knight * **July 24 - 31:** Gaping Jaw, Sentient Pest

Now, while some of us grizzled veterans might be rolling our eyes (because, let's be honest, we've probably died to these chaps enough already), it's a decent move for newer players or those who maybe took a break from the Lands Between and missed the initial run. After all, who doesn't love a good, old-fashioned boss fight that leaves you questioning your life choices? (Answer: sane people...but we're gamers, so that doesn't apply.)

But don't despair, ye faithful! FromSoftware *did* confirm that new Everdark Sovereign versions of Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and Fissure in the Fog are still simmering in the development cauldron, ready to be unleashed upon us at a later date. And, if the fan theories are anything to go by (dog-hydra Tricephalos, anyone?), we're in for some delightfully twisted surprises. I reckon we’ll need some serious rune farming before facing them.

Look, Elden Ring: Nightreign is still fairly fresh, and the steady drip-feed of new content and re-runs isn't a bad pace, all things considered. Sure, we're still dreaming of co-op shenanigans and crossplay potential, but for now, this is a welcome distraction. So, get out there, Tarnished, and prepare to die... again!
