Elden Ring: Nightreign Finally Gets Its Act Together with a Long-Awaited Duo Mode

*Elden Ring: Nightreign* is finally getting its long-awaited duo mode, which should make the game less of a solo suffering simulator, according to Eurogamer. Prepare to team up with a mate and face those ridiculously difficult Nightlords (and try not to rage quit).

Right, listen up, Tarnished. Remember *Elden Ring: Nightreign*? The, uh, slightly more… *challenging* cousin of the original? Well, it seems FromSoftware's finally heard our collective groans (and possibly a few broken controllers). Eurogamer reports that the promised duo mode is *finally* dropping on July 30th.

Yep, you read that right. Patch 1.02 is bringing the much-requested two-player co-op to *Nightreign*, alongside the usual UI tweaks and, crucially, *more* Relics filtering options. Because let's be honest, wading through that inventory was more of a boss fight than some of the actual bosses. The announcement came with a shiny new trailer, which I'm sure is full of perfectly coordinated takedowns and triumphant gestures.

Now, *Nightreign*, bless its heart, launched as a primarily three-player co-op experience. The problem? The solo mode was, shall we say, *unforgiving*. Like, 'getting-stomped-by-Margit-for-three-hours-straight' unforgiving. And the lack of a two-player option felt like a bizarre omission, didn't it? Like offering a pizza with only half the toppings. What gives?

FromSoftware has been tinkering with the solo mode balance in previous patches, which is nice, I suppose. But the real draw here is teaming up with a mate to tackle those ridiculously tough Nightlords. Speaking of which, a fresh batch of those extra-challenging Everdark Sovereigns are arriving on July 31st. Good luck facing *those* in pairs. You'll need it.

And just to rub it in, FromSoftware also announced that *Nightreign* has flogged over 5 million copies since its release at the end of May. Fair play, I guess. Also, the *Shadow of the Erdtree* DLC has sold a whopping 10 million copies, meaning roughly a third of players have taken the plunge. So, people are clearly enjoying the pain, or at least the world of Elden Ring.

Honestly, I reckon this duo mode is a step in the right direction. *Nightreign* always felt like it was missing a crucial piece of the puzzle, and hopefully, this will be the thing that pulls it all together. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to find a willing (and equally masochistic) friend to join me in getting repeatedly slaughtered by those Nightlords. Wish us luck, eh?
