Elden Ring: Nightreign DLC Brings Back Dark Souls Legend Artorias

Elden Ring: Nightreign's upcoming DLC, The Forsaken Hollows, launches on December 4, bringing back iconic Dark Souls boss Artorias alongside new playable characters and a challenging new map event.

FromSoftware has officially pulled back the curtain on The Forsaken Hollows, the next major expansion for Elden Ring: Nightreign, which arrives on December 4. Revealed during the latest Sony State of Play livestream, the new add-on leans heavily into fan nostalgia and fresh tactical options. The headline addition is the return of the iconic Artorias from the original Dark Souls, a long-requested combatant joining the fray alongside the Dancing Lion from the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion and a fresh field boss variant of the Gladius Nightlord. For a game that quickly crossed 3.5 million players in its first week, this injection of legacy encounters is a major win for the community.

Beyond the returning boss fights, the expansion introduces two distinct playable characters designed to shake up group compositions. The Scholar relies on arcane scaling and battlefield observation to secure tactical advantages, while the Undertaker utilizes a blend of strength and faith skills to clear out crowds. Players will also have to navigate The Great Hollow, a new Shifting Earth event filled with ancient ruins, hidden temples, and a dangerous cursed miasma that actively drains player health during encounters.

This reveal follows earlier corporate disclosures from parent company Kadokawa regarding future roadmap plans, but the trailer still managed to generate plenty of hype for the multiplayer spin-off. Whether you are diving in on PC, console, or cloud, the upcoming update promises to test the coordination of veteran groups and newcomers alike.
