Dynamax Dragons Incoming! Latios and Latias Fly into Pokemon GO for Max Battle Weekend

Pokemon GO is unleashing Dynamax Latios and Latias in a Max Battle Weekend event, showering players with bonuses and a chance to catch shiny versions of the legendary dragons -- better get ready to raid!
Alright, listen up, Trainers! Game Rant just dropped a juicy tidbit (cheers to them!), and it's got me buzzing like a Beedrill after a sip of nectar. Prepare your Poke Balls, because Dynamax Latios and Latias are about to descend upon Pokemon GO during a Max Battle Weekend event. Yes, *those* Latios and Latias – the Eon duo, ready to rumble in their gigantic, Dynamaxed glory!
Now, you might be asking, "Jeff, Max Battles? What in the name of Professor Oak are those?" Well, they're basically souped-up raids where Pokemon get seriously huge. And, as of January 2025, they've started including Legendary Pokemon. We've already had a go at the Dynamax Kanto birds and the Johto beasts, and now it's the Hoenn dragons' turn.
So, mark your calendars for July 26th and 27th. That's when the Max Battle Weekend kicks off, giving you the chance to battle Dynamax Latios and Latias in five-star raids. And the best part? They could be shiny! Gotta catch 'em all, right?
But wait, there's more! (Isn't there always?) During the event, Power Spots will be refreshing faster than a Snorlax waking up for brunch, and you'll be snagging eight times more Max Particles. The distance you need to wander to collect those particles will also be slashed to a quarter, and the collection limit will jump to a whopping 1,600. Basically, you'll be swimming in Max Particles, perfect for unlocking and leveling up those Max Moves. Oh, and speaking of Max Moves, between July 21st and July 27th, the cost to unlock and level them up is reduced by a quarter. Sweet!
And before the weekend even begins, from July 21st, you'll get access to Timed Research that rewards you with a Dynamax Gastly encounter. Apparently, this ghostly chap will be super useful against Latios and Latias. Plus, you'll snag Gastly Candy, Max Particles, and other goodies.
Of course, what's a Pokemon GO event without a special box? The Max Battle Weekend Ultra Box will be available in the Pokemon GO Web Store for $9.99. It includes seven Max Particle Packs and one Max Mushroom. Handy, eh?
Now, this all comes on the heels of the Gigantamax Lapras Max Battle Day on July 19th (missed that one, did we?), and with GO Fest 2025: Max Finale looming in late August. Some folks reckon we might finally see Eternatus make its grand entrance, possibly in its Eternamax form. That would be a bloody massive event, wouldn't it?
So, there you have it. Get ready to flex those fingers, charge your phones, and prepare to battle some seriously oversized dragons. Good luck, trainers, and may the odds (and the RNG) be ever in your favor!
