Dwarf Legacy is a new bullet-hell precision platformer from Wulo Games that turns traditional fantasy miners into acrobatic vertical mountaineers. A free demo is available now for PC and Mac.
Fantasy tropes usually depict dwarves as slow, heavily armored miners who prefer a solid axe over acrobatic gunplay. Wulo Games is throwing that tradition out the window with Dwarf Legacy, a new precision platformer that casts players as a gun-toting mountaineer scaling the inside of a massive peak. According to a recent report by Rock Paper Shotgun, the game merges shmup mechanics with vertical traversal, creating an experience that feels part Space Invaders and part frantic climbing puzzle.
While the opening levels offer a deceptively gentle entry point with floaty jumps and sticky wall mechanics, the challenge ramps up quickly. Players must manage strict directional firing constraints while dodging spinning blade traps, spikes, and swarms of aggressive enemies. Tactical positioning matters because foes can accidentally damage each other on traps, and a clever helmet mechanic lets players recover their lost headgear to restore a second chance after taking a hit.
Between vertical climbs, players return to a growing cave village populated by eccentric NPCs who offer upgrades, optional challenges, and lighthearted writing. A free demo is currently available for Mac and PC, giving players a chance to test their reflexes before the full release.
