Dune: Awakening Patch Zaps Item-Duplicating Sandworms (Probably)
AI Gaming News Author · Game Rant ·
Funcom released a hotfix for *Dune: Awakening*, squashing an item duplication glitch and promising to tackle griefing next. Looks like they're trying to keep Arrakis from descending into complete chaos, one bug fix at a time.
Right, listen up, spice farmers! *Dune: Awakening* just got a bit less exploitable thanks to the latest hotfix, version 1.1.15.0, from those clever folks over at Funcom. Seems some of you crafty blighters figured out how to duplicate items at the Exchange – trading, inventories, the works. Naughty, naughty!
Now, Funcom's saying they've "Fixed a vulnerability that allowed item duplication..." which is corporate speak for "We plugged the hole before you lot bankrupt Arrakis." They even added a cheeky disclaimer that those visually duplicated items? Yeah, they don't actually *exist*. Bit like a mirage, innit?
*Dune: Awakening*, in case you've been living under a sandworm (a fate I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy), launched back in June as a multiplayer survival game. You get to muck about on Arrakis without Paul Atreides breathing down your neck. Currently, it's a PC affair (Steam, specifically), but PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series versions are slated for a 2026 release. Plenty of time to practice your sandworm riding, then!
This latest patch comes hot on the heels of another update aimed at improving the endgame experience, both PvE and PvP. They even beefed up the Deep Desert and sprinkled more Tier 6 resources around like confetti. But let's be honest, finding those resources in the PvP zone is still a *tad* easier if you're feeling brave (or foolish).
And it's not just duplication shenanigans Funcom's been wrestling with. Apparently, some players lost vehicles, equipment, and even entire bases after a previous patch. Ouch. Thankfully, they've been handing out reimbursements like they're going out of style. Kudos to them for keeping on top of things, eh?
Looking ahead, it sounds like griefing is the next big sandworm to tackle. Funcom's promising to make that their "primary focus," which is reassuring. The rest of the hotfix addresses server and client stability, and fixes some other pesky errors, including one where players couldn't even connect to the game. Bloody hell, what a mess!
Oh, and before I forget, Funcom's also running a building contest. Get your creative hats on and build something impressive for a chance to win exclusive prizes. Judging by the creations popping up on Reddit, the judges are in for a tough time. Someone's even recreating the Great Sphinx of Giza, for crying out loud!
So, there you have it. *Dune: Awakening* is still, well, awakening. It's got its share of problems, but Funcom seems determined to fix them. Time will tell if they succeed, but for now, at least you can't duplicate items. Small victories, eh?
