Comedy streaming service Dropout is launching Toonout, a new series of 25 independent animated shorts featuring creators from Spider-Verse, Amphibia, and other major modern projects.
Dropout is continuing its aggressive expansion into new formats, moving far beyond its roots as the home of *Game Changer* and *Dimension 20*. The comedy streaming service announced a brand-new original animated short series titled *Toonout*, which will feature work from heavy hitters in the modern animation industry. As reported by Polygon, the platform has commissioned 25 independent animated shorts that will roll out biweekly starting this spring, signaling a major push into creator-driven animation for the subscription platform.
The roster of participating talent brings serious pedigree to the project, with artists who have shaped some of the most distinct visual media of recent years. The first wave of episodes features animators who have worked on *Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse*, *Amphibia*, *Big City Greens*, and *Thundercats Roar*. While Dropout has hosted legacy animated projects from its CollegeHumor era in the past, *Toonout* marks the very first original animated series commissioned since the platform officially launched as a standalone subscription service in 2018.
For modern audiences who treat streaming platforms as vital social and entertainment hubs, this move highlights how comedy and animation communities continue to bleed into one another. Dropout has spent the last several months experimenting with physical media, licensing deals, and live-streaming channels, and bringing independent animators into the fold feels like a natural evolution for a platform built on creator empowerment. It is a smart play for a community that thrives on supporting independent artistic talent and alternative digital content.
