Doom: The Dark Ages is expanding on July 7 with the Revelations DLC and a free Ripatorium 3.0 arena update, bringing new story chapters, combat gear like the Chain Spear, and deeper customisation options.
Bethesda and id Software used the Xbox Games Showcase to finally lift the curtain on Revelations, the upcoming story expansion for Doom: The Dark Ages. Arriving on July 7, the DLC will cost nineteen dollars and ninety-nine cents for players who did not grab the Premium Edition at launch, while Game Pass subscribers will need to purchase the add-on separately. According to the official Slayers Club breakdown, the story follows the Slayer as he escapes a brutal purgatory, battles an abomination of the gods, and allies with a mysterious new character to secure freedom for his followers.
Alongside the narrative expansion, id Software is dropping the free Ripatorium 3.0 update for all players. This patch upgrades the customisable arena mode with deeper customisation tools, improved pass code generation, and personal preset options. Players who pick up the Revelations DLC will also unlock three brand new maps, additional demon types, and fully upgraded weapons to test out within the sandbox. The headline addition for combat is the new Chain Spear, which aims to inject more high mobility into the fray and bridge the gap toward the fast paced rhythm fans loved in Doom Eternal.
The timing of this content drop arrives amid plenty of behind the scenes discussion regarding studio stability at id Software following broader Microsoft and Xbox restructuring. Director Hugo Martin has previously pushed back against reports that the team was heavily downsized, though developer accounts have painted a more complex picture. Even so, the studio is clearly committed to supporting the player base with meaningful post launch content and robust arena tools that keep the community engaged.
