Donkey Kong Bananza's Day One Patch: GameShare's the Name, Fixes are the Game

Donkey Kong Bananza's day-one patch adds a new GameShare feature for local and online co-op, along with some general bug fixes, ensuring a smoother, banana-filled experience right out of the jungle.

Right, so Donkey Kong's back, and apparently, he brought friends... and a few bug fixes. According to Game Rant, *Donkey Kong Bananza* – finally hitting the Nintendo Switch 2 tomorrow, July 17th – is getting a day-one patch, version 1.1.0, that adds a rather nifty "GameShare" feature and, you know, tidies up a few rough edges.

Now, 'GameShare' sounds like something out of a Web3 fever dream, but fear not, it's blessedly simple. It lets you play with a mate nearby or, more interestingly, via GameChat. Which, if you've been living under a rock, is the Switch 2's incredibly well-received feature that allows up to 12 chums to play together, complete with video chat for four players simultaniously. Pauline, DK's friend, is the second playable character in this co-op mode. Sounds fun, yeah?

This is the first proper Donkey Kong outing since *Tropical Freeze* in 2014 (bloody hell, has it been that long?) and the first 3D platformer since *Donkey Kong 64* back in '99. Apparently, it's been cooking for eight long years, so expectations are higher than Cranky Kong's blood pressure.

The reviews are already looking pretty spiffy. But here's the slightly less-than-peachy bit: Game Rant also mentions that director Kazuya Takahashi admitted the game might see some performance dips when things get a bit…bananazoid. But he reckons the fun factor was prioritised. Sounds like a fair trade-off to me, especially if it's anything like the glorious chaos of *Tears of the Kingdom* as some players are pointing out.

Producer Kenta Motokura even hinted that more Donkey Kong adventures could be on the horizon, depending on how well *Bananza* swings. Considering it's already rocking a 91 on OpenCritic, I reckon we'll be seeing more of the big ape before too long.

So, what's in the patch, specifically? Well, here's the lowdown:

* You can now select "GameShare with people nearby” or “GameShare via GameChat” from the “Play with two people” option in the pause menu. * Fixed several issues to improve gameplay experience.

That's it. Short, sweet, and to the point. So, if you're picking up *Donkey Kong Bananza* tomorrow, give that patch a download and get ready to share the ape-y goodness. Unless you're a complete git and want all the bananas for yourself, of course.
