Dispatch Update Tones Down Clunky Censorship on Nintendo Switch

AdHoc Studio is releasing a free update for Dispatch on Nintendo Switch that removes the heavy black boxes used for censorship at launch, while introducing new toggle options for all platforms.

When AdHoc Studio brought Dispatch to the Nintendo Switch back in January 2026, the port came with an unwelcome surprise for players. The game relied on heavy, clunky black boxes to censor various visual elements, covering up everything from routine anatomy to floating green appendages. A brand new free update is finally rolling out to fix that overzealous editing, removing the aggressive black bars and letting most of the game's intended visuals fly free across platforms.

According to the development team, the original censorship mess happened because of a miscommunication regarding regional rating standards. Nearing the finish line with limited resources, the studio discovered that Nintendo required strict content filtering across all regions rather than just specific target markets. AdHoc opted for a single compliant build to meet the deadline, but the studio admitted it failed to properly warn players that the Switch version would differ materially from the trailers and previews seen on PC and other consoles.

The new patch cleans up the experience by letting breasts, rear ends, and other assets appear normally on Switch. Explicit anatomy still requires some form of cover under platform rules, so characters like Toxic now feature pixelated blobs or an optional pair of strategically placed jorts. AdHoc is also extending these modular censorship options to the PlayStation 5 and PC versions, giving players on all platforms the freedom to toggle the visual intensity depending on their preferences.
