Dispatch Deploys the Jam Donut Update to Answer Nintendo's Switch Censorship Rules

AdHoc releases the HR Violations update for Dispatch on Nintendo Switch, offering creative workarounds like jam donuts and hot pants to navigate platform censorship mandates while keeping the breakout hit's momentum alive.
AdHoc is rolling out a clever fix for the platform-specific restrictions that hit its superhero workplace comedy, Dispatch, when it launched on Nintendo systems. Players on Switch and Switch 2 faced heavy censorship upon release, with black boxes covering character anatomy and muted audio dampening the game's more adult moments. AdHoc acknowledged fan frustration early on, and the studio has now delivered the HR Violations update to give players more control over what they see on screen.
The new patch, which is rolling out across Europe, North America, Australia, and New Zealand, lets players toggle certain visual elements on and off. While Nintendo's strict guidelines mean that audio moans remain muted and direct views of male anatomy are still restricted, AdHoc found a playful workaround for the visual blocks. Instead of standard black bars, players can select a chaos option that covers restricted areas with strategically placed denim hot pants or an oozing jam donut.
Platforms like Steam, PlayStation 5, and the upcoming Xbox version arriving this summer retain uncensored defaults, but they also gain access to these new customization options. The censorship hurdle has done little to slow down momentum for the title, which cleared one million sales in its first ten days and even picked up three wins at the 2026 BAFTA Games Awards. With developer AdHoc now eyeing a potential second season, the studio is proving that even rigid platform policies cannot keep a breakout indie hit down.
